Our Christmas Day and Happy New Year 2010!!

First of all I would like to wish all my faithful readers,friends and family a Happy and Healthy NEW YEAR 2010!! May this coming new year bring happiness and joy to you and family!!

Well,another late Christmas entry again!! better late than never,right?guess who are the person who can't wait to get Santa's present? Ho,ho,ho!! of course,that is my precious Mishu!!Mishu keep looking for Santa's present days before Christmas. She can't wait and keep wishing"Merry Christmas" whole week long.At last she found the presents under mommy and daddy bed 2 days before Christmas*sigh* (must remind Santa,next year he need to find a better location to store the gifts ) Santa must delivered the gifts too early.. well,since Mishu found the presents days before Christmas,she was so excited ,can't wait to open all the gifts. But instead of letting her open the gifts,we asked her to move the gifts from under the bed to under the Christmas tree.She can only open the gifts on Christmas day .

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2010!!

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2010!! Yesterday we took Mishu 's photo with Santa at the mall last minutes. It's a traditional for Mishu to seat with Santa for a official Santa photo..
Mr Santa still remember Mishu.he said "oh I remember you from last year,pointing to Mishu"!!

as usual Mishu wear new Christmas dress and high heels shoes..Well,for now I just wish everybody have a healthy and Happy Holiday!!

Dōngzhì Festival or Winter Solstice Festival 冬至

Today is Winter Solstice or Dongzhi festival in US and A. Actual I lost track of which or what festival coming and going but yesterday when I called my mom in Malaysia she told me she is going to celebrate Winter Solstice .Then I still blur-blur,asking her isn't you're going to wrap "zhang"? Aiyoo..I still live in wonderland,dunno how to differentiate "Zhang festival and "tang yuen festival"!! well ,as usual I make some "tang yuen" for fun since I don't have prayer's alter at home. This year I used palm sugar base broth instead of regular white sugar base.Mishu was helping mommy with the preparing..she request this and that color,she also help mommy to shape the round small ball .She keep asking when the soup ready...

after 30 minutes,the simple cooked "tong yuen" ready for Mishu to try
she keep saying it's "delicious" and yummy!!

going for more coz it's soup really sweet like candy

she can even dance while eating

told Mishu she older by 1 year old when eating "tang yuen",then when her birthday next month she going to get old by another 1 year! hahaha!!

Mishu also prepare a greeting for her Ah Mah and Ye-ye in Malaysia..Tune up your PC volume high..enjoy!!

early in the morning today Mishu had dental appointment but I forget about it.I also didn't check our answering machine message,I guess yesterday they must left the reminder message for the appointment.Her daddy told me at 10 am the dental office called but it's too late to go .I called back to get another appointment and they said they have a spot at 11.30 am.I quickly preparing Mishu to dress up warmly and suddenly I notice there are still bundle of snow at the end of driveway push by town's snow plunger that block our driveway.I yelled Elliot to shovel the snow away coz my van can't go out.By the time we arrived at the dental office,it's 20 minutes late.Too bad they refused to take Mishu said they have next patient coming in 10 minutes.Well ,,they gave me another appointment at 2.30 pm..I must as well take it..why bother to make other day...then I drop Mishu back at home and I go to food shopping at BJ's.Eliot laugh at me said I always late for any appointment ..well...that me!!hehehe!

when I was still shopping at BJ's,Eliot called said Mishu 's school called to pick up her Christmas gift at the school before 3 pm.Mishu supposed to go to school on Monday but it's a snow day,so the school closed .Well,I quickly rush home bcoz I have to stop at Mishu school first before going to the dental office again.I make sure this time not late again. It's also good to drop by at the school coz I already prepared Mishu's teachers present and can give the present to them as well.We arrived at the dental office 10 minutes late but they still take Mishu which I'm glad:)

at first she was scared,then realised later it's has no pain at all,then she relax .Actually she is quite calm and good.

Dental hygienist promise to give Mishu "treasure box and goody bag" which make Mishu more happy!!

it's just took less than 15 minutes for the dental hygienist to polish Mishu teeth..

then a dentist follow up to check her miniature teeth.Mishu is not allow to take any X-ray until she is 5-6 year old. The dentist said Mishu have good teeth,so don't worried..

as promised she she got a goody bag and she allow to pick her gift from "treasure box"..I make another dental appointment for Mishu in 6 months,that is at June..I think it's time for me to clean my teeth too.I forget to check my own dental appointment date*sigh* must call tomorrow!! Our dental insurance is quite good but Eliot don't want to take advantage of it. I think guy is like that ,doesn't care!!

Let's it snow,let's it snow!

Yesterday,Saturday was our 1st winter snow of the year.All week long TV and radio keep announcing that this Saturday we are going to have snow storm/blizzard. Supermarket and grocery store was packed and has long line at the cashier counter.They said we are going to have 2 feet snow.Well,it's proven to be true!! We has almost 2 feet of snow early Sunday morning. I still send Mishu to her Saturday Chinese school but after 12 pm the snow start coming down lightly.Anyway,we went straight home to get cozy .No more shopping or hopping around the town . I think middle of the nite the snow start to accumulated.On Saturday evening the snow is still very light and flurry.I guess since we are in Long Island surrounding by water ,there is a chance we don't get snow storm like others states..

shovelling snow is really a hard and tiring task,that nobody look forward to do it.before I came to US and A ,I love white snow but after a while when I lived in NYC I still like it (coz I rent apt) until I owned a home in island(I hate it).If we don't shovel the snow while is still fresh and fluffy,the next day when it's was compact ,it's really dangerous bcoz it's form into black ice which it's icy and slippery!! beside that we will get summon from the town if we didn't clean our side walk,the worst part if someone fall down while walking on our property we will get sue!!
about 12 pm Eliot decided to shovel our driveway.On Saturday Mishu keep asking me she want to play snow ball and build snow man...but I promised her we will all go outdoor on Sunday to play with the snow.Wake Mishu up and dress her warmly with new bought gloves,hat,jacket,sweat pant and shirt and boot.
Look!! she happily stuffing herself into the snow.
she inform us she want to go to backyard but we still didn't clean a path to backyard yet!

told Mishu just play at the front while we shovelling the snow.
she fall into the deep snow ,it's really cold and freezing
we just start shovelling a small spot and feel our body aching.So Eliot was looking for anyone who drove pass our street with snow blower to do the job.He said he rather pay someone to do the job.For a while nobody drove or to offer shovelling job.Eliot called few of our neighbor to borrow their snow blower.
at last he found one!! look !! he bringing in a snow blower to our driveway
well,I better let him do the job with snow blower. Mishu is complaining cold and she keep falling into the deep snow..I afraid she is going to get sick again,she still on cold and antibiotic medicine.
Look at the wonder of snow blower!! after 30 minutes or driveway almost clean! but wait!! I still didn't clean our car yet! look left and right for Eliot!! where is he?
next, I saw Eliot blowing snow next door's neighbour!! well,I guess he want to reciprocate by helping them to clean their driveway since they loan us their snow blower.
wow!! this guys is really hard working cleaning other people driveway but our cars still cover full with snow!!
I quickly clean both our cars before yell him over to touch up blowing the remaining of the snow drop on the ground
well,at least we can get our cars out tomorrow morning.Mishu is going to school tomorrow,it's the last day of her school and she will "off" until after New Year. she didn't go to school the whole last week coz she was sick..
this year we didn't decorate our front yard....I'm too lazy and not into the mood,Mishu keep asking why other people house have reindeers and lights.I told her to look at our neighbour decoration instead,their are better and pretty!! save electricity mah! hahaha! I bring out our new Christmas tree ,put together before let Mishu did all the decoration..not bad..huh?
her Chinese school had Poinsettia(red flower) sale,I have nobody to sell to so I bought a pot for our home.I also complete my baking project.Cookies on display waiting for Christmas.
beside Christmas tree decoration,Mishu requested to build a Gingerbread house.So Gingerbread house she got!
I never build any Gingerbread house before thought it's easy coz it's come with booklet and manual but it's frustrating for me coz the icing is I make is too thin! I just help her assembly and let her decorate the colorful sprinkle.
Mishu creation "Gingerbread House"!! not bad...huh? 4 year old work,right?
she want to show her creation to her "Ah Mah"in Malaysia but said it's too heavy!! look at her face!!
still working hard with her decoration even thought the icing is quite dry.
this is also my 1st building Gingerbread house,I accidently paint the whole house with icing,can't see the gingerbread!! hahaha!
