Happy Thanksgiving!!

First of all ,I would like to wish Happy Thanksgiving to those who are in US and A. Traditionally, it is a time to give thanks for the harvest and express gratitude in general. While perhaps religious in origin, Thanksgiving is now primarily identified as a secular holiday.Yesterday I baked some cookies for Mishu's class party today.I 'm too late to sign up for the party food ,so baked some cookies in goody bag for her classmate.

Well,for us Roast turkey is a must for our Thanksgiving dinner. Eliot love turkey but for me I mush prefer chicken then turkey.Since we only celebrate Thanksgiving once a year,so having Turkey for dinner is fine with me.This year I plan not to cook elaborate dinner like before.Maybe I will cook some pumpkin soup,string bean ,sweet potato and pumpkin pie.Will update our Thanksgiving dinner meal in next post.So for now,let me show you around Mishu weekend chinese school..

this is a middle school not far from our home but it's a different school district from our township.So in order for Mishu to study her chinese lesson there ,we have to paid extra fee.

since her Chinese school gave her plenty of textbook which required her to bring some to her class every weekend,I better get her another school bag to solve the problem from shifting her book around to Preschool 's bag to Chinese school bag each week.. her Chinese school teacher suggest me to stay with her in her class during the lesson to help her which I'm so glad.She notice Mishu can't gather the instruction she teach.Mishu can't understand what the pages or numbers yet.Parents who want to stay with their child during lesson have to paid for the fee. But for me it's FREE since I can speak and understand Mandarin,that mean it's not my intention to sit in the class to learn as the rest of the parents .
this Middle school district allow the Taiwanese Associate to use their classrooms during weekend with few condition..
after Mandarin class,the students moved to the culture class which is either Tai-Chi or Chinese Calligraphy
among the students Mishu is the youngest one in term if age.Mostly the student are Chinese gals adopted by American parents.Mishu get bored so easily,she keep nagging me she doesn't want to attend culture class bcoz I didn't join her.Most of the time I just stand at the hall waiting for her.So this coming weekend(Thanksgiving) Mishu don't have Chinese class which she is so happy!! Hooray!! that mean no homework!!
I been drinking this "hor yan hor tea" for the last few weeks since I was not feeling well..This "hor yan hor" tea taste yucky according to Mishu but I added some dried plum to make it's taste acceptable..I forget to get some sea coconut drink for coughing when I visited Chinatown..Well,maybe next time...yeah,we can get anything (Malaysia or Asian food or stuff) in US and A ,Chinatown if $$ is not an object!!Talking about Malaysia stuff,I got a "kopi sieve in clothes",it's like the "kopi tiam" style sieve...now I wonder why I got the clothes sieve..will show you the photo next post!

I'm Back!!

I'm back now!! I been missing from my blog for about a week,right? Well,my chronic cough has became a real pain to me.Actually last week I called up for a doctor appointment but the receptionist told me to call back again the next day,maybe it's will be a long wait. Meantime to ease my bad cough I found some left over antibiotic given by my doctor previously,so I decided not to waste my time to see the doctor the next day. It's not only I have bad cough,Eliot was attacked with constant cough too.Yesterday he went to see his doctor ,I told him to get more antibiotic for me too.I think I has bronchitis...coz it's the same cough I had as the last time.Since last week I was relaxing and resting doing nothing until I found some great Korean drama online.I was introduced to Korean drama by my mom and sister when I visited Malaysia 2 years ago .Some are funny,loving, and sad. I was amazed how touching and meaningful each one of the Korean drama.Honestly these days I prefer to watch Korean drama than Hong Kong or Taiwanese drama..Well,I think I'm addicted to Korean drama .Eliot laughed at me when he see I stay up whole night,sniffing with tears while watching Korean drama.I had finished watch 2 of the best Korean drama and would love to recommend you guys to watch it. Autumn Tales and Winter Sonata.Trust me it's really GREAT!!! just watch the video clip below, love the song!

Ok...let update some trip we took to Queens month ago.I need to run some errand in Flushing,Queens


Mishu is trying to read Chinese! hahaha! she still have along way to go before she can read and write CHINESE.her teacher just teach her 36 phonetic symbols
then she saw some birds on the ground eating wild rice.

we visited temple to give prayer to Lady Buddha Goddess.Was suprised they had a ceremony going on that day..

after the temple we decided to have lunch at mommy regular Malaysia restaurant as usual Mishu had her favourite "Hokkien Mee aka Black Noodle"!!

Red Mango yogurt is quite popular every where we go ,not to said it's quite pricey too!

patterns and sewing

Winter is around the corner.It's mean more time for me to stay indoor.Well,not so fast.Mishu passed her flu and cold germs to me. I been coughing non-stop until I can feel my lung going to pop out when it's vibrated!!! ouch! it's hurt like hell!! but as long as my baby is well that all matters.I still have plenty of outdoor work to clean up before winter arrived.Some of my tropical plants need to be trim before transfer indoor.I also need to clean up my vegetables garden to prevent any disease for next year planting. So far these few days I'm just a couch potato.Watching CNN,Bloomberg,BBC,CBS,NBC,FOX,Oprah and Ellen show everyday without fail! no wonder Oprah is a famous figure!! as they said everything Oprah touched will turn into gold!! I never know what I had missed for the last couple of years back!!Hmmm...since I have OnDemand and HBO in the cable I might watch it as much as I can,right? why waste something has been paid!! well,enough all my ranting here..let's see what I get!

3 weeks ago Joanne's fabric and craft store had sale on their fabric and pattern! after picking up Mishu from her chinese school,we went shopping at Joanne!

each pack of on sale pattern cost $0.99 only!! each customer limited to 10 packets each time.
so I took 2 trips back to Joanne to get a total of 20 patterns
actually buying ready made clothes in US and A is much cheaper than making the clothes yourself. But some people like sewing bcoz it's a hobby or maybe they can't find the clothes they want or fit.Other than that just shop our clothes at department store is much easier,simple,cheaper and have a better selection .
see? each original price printed on the packet. if it's not on sale I have to pay for the original price which I won't buy at all!! freaky expensive!!
I was so greedy...the fact to the matter is I dunno how to sew!! suprised right? wonder why I bought so much of patterns set! Last year I just took 2 hours sewing lesson and make Mishu's a set of halloween PJ's which she love dearly.Since then I bought a total of 2 sewing machines but unfortunately I had to return both sewing machine back to the seller.
Mishu was so excited when she see Disney Princess pattern
she asked mommy to make her Disney Princess costume...wau...la!! she thought her mommy is an expert tailor!! her mommy still have to find where is the left or right when sewing.Very amature!! so to solve the costume problem,mommy hop over to Wal-mart after Halloween coz it's sold at 75 % off the original price!! cheaper than getting fabric by itself.
no wonder people here at States only learn sewing as hobby or just learn the basic knowledge to be a fashion designer. when I took my 2 hours sewing lesson ,one of my classmate is a 16 years old gal who is a part time student at F.I.T who want to be a fashion designer..she just want to learn ahead than what FIT can teach her.

Mishu can't wait to open,wondering what it's..I think it's raining that why UPS wrapped up the box with plastic bag

at last I choose Brother's sewing machine again but this time it's a computerize machine with 60 embroidery stitches and functions .Read reviews online said it's great!! hope it's great as the reviewers said,if not I have to return again or hit my own head! hahaha!
was quite impressed with all the functions..must try out this machine first...anyway,come back and see what I had accomplished with Mishu's choosen PJ!

Flu Season

Flu season is here now..that mean it's also the season for Mishu to start getting sick again and again!!*sigh* since she started school 2 months ago ,she been sick for the 4 th times!! Mishu had cold since Thursday but I still make her to go to school on Friday and Saturday..After Saturday school,she seem restless and tired.I been feeding her with every cold,cough and flu medication OTC(over the counter) for the last few days..I thought she getting better coz I planned to meet Gertrude who came from PA to visit her friends in Queens on Sunday(what a nice and beautiful Sunday weather) but suddenly during Saturday night Mishu has fever..on and off..about 102-101 F..My first thought is to bring her to emergency room but after a quick flashback ,I don't think it's a good idea..I used to bring her to emergency room at the hospital nearby,but the waiting period during midnight hours was so painful long and worthless..all they do to her is to cool down her body temperature ..furthermore ,last week Mishu had her 1st H1N1 vaccine and Flu shot ,so she will fine for now from contract to swine flu..that is no point for me to worried about her from getting swine flu.. It's also Mishu's 1st time getting Flu shot..we never wanted Mishu to get any flu shot since she was born but since she going to school now,I think it's better for her to get all the vaccines .At first her daddy was not sure bcoz of the conflicting report and debates about H1N1 vaccine but I assured him,we are better safe than sorry when the news of spreading swine flu is everywhere and deathly.. Mishu is a good patient..she don't really get cranky.The best thing is she love taking medicine!! Yesterday night,I notice she laying shivering on the bed watching TV,complaining cold and when I touch her forehead it's so hot..quickly dress her up in socks , sweater shirt and pant.

used a cooling pad to cool her forehead down..keep taking her temperature from time to time..she ask for candy so I give in since she is sick..

she kick her daddy out of his bed!! coz her room don't have TV

she complained her lip is painful..yeah that right,chap and dry lip..so get her a tube of carmex,told her to put on her lip now and then..

she complained her throat is painful too,so mommy quickly cook some barley drink for her..I know if she sick she must have strep throat....maybe it's my culture to drink barley drink when we are sick! hubby said he never heard of this! haha!

daddy ask me to bring her to see her doctor but it's Sunday!! the only place open for Mishu it's hospital..Furthermore what can her doctor do to her? usually they just gave her antibiotic and ask me to get OTC cough and flu medicine for her.See? I stored every brand of children medicine I can find OTC....hmmmm....maybe if tomorrow she still not getting better maybe I should bring her to see her pediatrician to get some antibiotic.
