Food Shopping in Flushing

Yesterday we (Mishu and Mommy) went to Flushing,Queens for food shopping and lunch. This coming weekend I'm planning for a huge BBQ party,sort of "friends gathering" or "welcoming summer"!! Well, a BBQ party without foods is no fun ,right? Called a friend who live in Flushing for lunch and 4 of us end up having Malaysian foods.As usual Mishu had her "black noodles" aka Hokkien mee and mommy had her favourite "cockles fried kuey toew extra spicy".Sorry no photos coz Mishu sitting on my lap!! Mishu was moody when we leave home..she gags kinds of puking but appeared to be OK after running to bathroom..

Flushing is the second largest Chinatown in NYC..As usual...you can see lots of people walking along Main Street..no matter what day or date!! I prefer to go in during weekdays than weekend coz I can easily find street parking with meter feeding..

after lunch,mommy shop for some loose dried longans,beans and anchovies. Mishu is still moody.....you can see from her sour face

my friends told me a new supermarket is having grand opening , the price is quite reasonable and it's FREE parking.As we all know looking for parking in this "Golden territory" aka city hot location is really priceless!! I think every month there is a new Asian supermarket new opening in Flushing..
Mishu thought we are going home and ready for her security blanket:Minnie Mouse!

a good location but at the other side of town.This supermarket is so new and the price for seafood is quite inexpensive!! but I realised they didn't carry much Asian grocery...sadly I can't find my Malaysia grocery/food here..thinking of going to another town where I know there are few supermarkets carry Malaysia food but afraid the seafood I bought will not stand too long in my van which the temperature is about 70 F.

OK...after spend over $$$ and 6 hours shopping and "makaning" in Flushing ,we reach home about 6.30 pm..it's rush hours but we used HOV lane..I always wanna to get a steamer from Chinatown,now a 3 tiers steamer I got!

more fish and seafood..bought 2 box of shrimp on sale. 4 lbs each box...buying and food shopping is so easy but preparing for storing is the hardest part....

visit chinese bakery to get coffee and saw this matcha cake..so I get this cake for Mishu incase we was stuck in traffic..I like the fine texture and color of this cake but after abite it's nothing special...the matcha flavour is too raw ,the cake is too dry ,spongy and not sweet at all..

at last Mishu eat it when we arrived at home...she feel better after all wrapping

and more wrapping!! staying in kitchen for 5 hours until misson accomplished!! wooow

Pick compost and mulch for my garden!

2 weeks ago our neighbour told us,actually two neighbour told us we can get FREE compost and mulch from our town landfill.If I know we can get free compose, I don't have to waste $$ buying 15 bags garden soil for my garden from Walmart!! Since it's long weekend ,we can only go today.I have to drag Eliot to go with me after sending Mishu to her school as we know the compost and mulch is really heavy and bulky!! MiL was here during long weekend, as usual I'm busy shopping ,cleaning and cooking. We have BBQ dinner for 2 days but didn't take any photo..

anyone can come to this landfill to throw their grass clipping and pick up the compost..the white truck is unloading his grass clipping..

mostly the landscaping company bring their leaves and yard waste here but I think they have to paid the town .We have to go over weight station but the lady at the station just wave at us..

each trip we brought 4 buckets and 2 shovels with us..total we come for 3 trips only...this landfill close at 2.30 pm,so we better hurry...this mulch is still hot and smoky!

the mulch is not the greatest mulch but ...hey! it's free...beggar can't be choosy ....right?

I like their compost,it's really rich and good!!

anyway,I bought some mulch from store to spread on top of the low grade mulch....so I can save not buying extra few bags of the mulch from store

New Boombox and Furniture

Yesterday I get a Sony's CD player for Mishu at BJ's wholesale. Eliot asked how much and told him it's about $50 plus tax...He said why so expensive? Well,it's Sony!! Then again I think it's too much $$ to spend a boom box for Mishu especially she will break or remove something from it within days..So in the evening I run to Walmart again to get another "chap pa-lang" brand boombox for her..it's only cost $22!! wah...this sound better ,right? if she broke the $22 boombox,we don't feel so much pain ...a boombox for a 4 years old? she lucky,right? I don't even own my own CD player until 25 years old!! tomorrow I'm going to return this boombox back to BJ's wholesale. this "chap pa-lang" brand boombox look cool,right?
Actually Mishu found her Chinese song CD's in my van few days ago,she wanna to play it at home but her room have only cassette player not CD player.This cassette player given by my friends 14 years ago before she went back to Malaysia.I like this cassette player because the AM radio channel will received several Chinese station from NYC.

Last Saturday,Eliot and our neighbour brought back our new sofa set from Raymour & Flanigan Furniture with budget rental truck. Our original purchase was from The Plaza..Read HERE!! but after 2 months this company still didn't send our furniture!! We called few times but they keep saying the manufacture didn't send the delivery this week,maybe next week,So we wait for next week.Next week come and go,they still didn't inform us what is going on!! I was so piss and told them I wanna my deposit back and cancel the delivery!! the next day I drove over to the store can ask for my deposit back..Luckily this company didn't delivery our new furniture!! I went across the street and found a beautiful set of sofa which I love! from 1-10...I would said it's 9!!
The store close at 9 pm....but at the time it's 8 pm already!! I called Eliot and ask him to rush over ASAP!! This store is the only Raymour & Flanigan Furniture clearance store in Long Island. Their furniture is an high end quality but with a reasonable price at this clearance centre.We can pay and pick up the furniture immediately!! that's great!! the store policy stated that we have to pick up the furniture within 48 hours after payment too!! Eliot came in 5 minutes before 9 pm the store close.We pay and the sales person told us ,she will call us the next day to arrange for delivery truck..The next day the sales person leave me a voice mail ,told me about the charges of delivery truck ..I quickly call the store to get an appointment but a woman told me "your husband is here now"!! I beg your pardon? she keep insist that my husband is there...OK...I put down my phone and call Eliot but he didn't answer my call..I thought she must mistaken.Then I get ready for Mishu to attend a Birthday party nearby..Within 20 minutes Eliot come back with a Budget Rental's truck..He said he would like to give me a big surprise coz I always complaint he don't do stuffs at home..well, if he ask my opinion I will tell him....just let the store arrange for the delivery truck to deliver our furniture..why bother with truck rental and so on...well..
since the sofa and love seat is quite huge and heavy,Eliot have to removed all the legs when entering the front door. I like the firm seat ,tough leather and solid seam sofa..I keep telling Eliot I"m glad we didn't get the furniture that we put down the deposit..he said I should said something if I don't like the first selection or his selecttion in the begining...well...sometime we have to compromise...right? it's not everything I like and he dislike or vice verse.....but now it's work out my way and better..one of the sofa missing the center supporting leg ..I offer to go back to the store and request for the missing leg.....now we are so late..for a Birthday Party...I hurry Mishu to dress up ...
we are invited by one of my Malaysian reader ..Mei to attend her daughter 8 year old Birthday at Tae Kwon Do center nearby..

Mishu wanna the green plastic plate and glass,so plastic green plate and glass she get! Summer is almost here......so we all have to get really for the beautiful nice hot summer,right?

Mishu Update

Last Thursday when I was waiting to up pick Mishu up from nursery school,she is playing at her school playground under her teachers supervision. Usually when the weather is fine and fair,her teacher will lets them have fun at the playground.When Mishu seated in her seat,she keep asking me to bring her to the playground..Well, so playground we go.... this playground next to our local lake..Mishu keep chasing the ducks and the ducks keep running away from her. Mishu's favourite drink-Yeo Hiap Seng !!

I like this playground coz it's clean and neat but unfortunately this playground doesn't belong to our town.

our town playground doesn't have the safety foam on the ground and all the equipments is rusty and old.When summer is officially here,we can't enter to this playground unless we have resident pass.

aaahhh!! at the playground Mishu saw few kids riding bicycle and scooter..so I ask her ,would she like to ride a scooter.She told me she want a roller skate! so we went to Walmart .Instead of roller skate I get her a scooter which she not really interested. I thought scooter is more cool than roller skate!

her daddy wrap all the protection pat around her but she took out again coz she was frustrate!..Later I show her how to ride this scooter,then she put her protection pad again but...eeerrrh..helmet also wrong side! hahaha!

Mishu hardy ask for toys,so I don't mind getting her this Barbie's scooter..Whenever she go out shopping with us ,she love picking up

stuffs in her hands to walk along in the store but when we are leaving ,told her to put back all the stuffs,she obliged with no problem.She won't throw tantrum..

her daddy promise her to bring her to the park for scooter training.

2 weeks ago ,we found a trombone while cleaning our garage...The trombone belonged to Eliot's father. Eliot's said the trombone is at least 100 years old! now we have another piece of "antique"!! crank up your PC volume to listen to Mishu's playing trombone!


ouch!! lip hurt!! she even teach me how to blow the trombone!!
