Sunny Weekend and Vegetable Garden Sprouting

Look at my garden, sprouting!! Today I inspect my garden development after last 3 days straight rain day and night.I was worried the rain will wash away the seeds but also glad that I need rain to water my garden after sowing... I'm so excited and happy when I see the seeds Mishu and me sowed last week was sprouting!! taaaaa---dahhh...
I pray and hope this young sprouts will stay healthier and bigger!
This is my first year planting vegetables from seeds .Seeing the sprout is growing ,make me feel comfort since I demolished some of my backyard lawn to have this mass size vegetable plot.

more sprout is coming out!! lettuce!!
radish!!
Today the weather is so sunny and beautiful..I work until sunset, raking and cleaning the lawn.I need to finish up fertilizing and seeding the lawn before the pollen fall and flying around in the air especially those bitchiness pollen from the oak trees.Sorry la I'm allergy to all kind of pollen..I bought a giant pack of Gladiolus bulb from the outlet store and Mishu is helping me to plant it into the ground.
Nowadays she talk like an adult..She is quite a helper if she in the mood.
bring more tools out for gardening...
Yesterday I run to Home Depot to get more metal stalk for my vegetable garden. These metal stalk will hold the plastic chicken wire which I put around my garden plot to prevent squirrel and friends to attack my vegetable garden.
I also go back to Wal-mart to get more garden soil for my flowers like Lilies and Iris on the side of the house.
look at the skin on my hand which was graced with poison ivy(real evil bitch) urushiol that causes the rashes. After almost 10 days ,the rashes look worst ,right? Well, now I know it's poison ivy urushiol,so no need to seek dermatology for advise. I recalled 2 years ago when I visited dermatology, the moment he lay his eyes on my rashes he quickly identified it's poison ivy..just get some cream from pharmacy to apply but it's still itchy.Nothing can be done at this moment..Well...as they said prevention is better than cure!! that is very true!
Yesterday,Mishu want to run and run like crazy at the front lawn. Our magnolia tree is blooming much better than 2 days ago..
Mishu wear her new "summer" dress with new Mickey Mouse slipper
she keep running here and there ,make her daddy yell at her coz she run too close to the street which have many cars going to expressway.
alright...she have to go back to backyard if she want to run coz I can't watch her with heart beat pounding.Backyard is much safer for her ..she not use to wear slipper, keep complaint hurt! well....it's a new slipper ,of course it's hurt!! lol!

Keep Deer Off!!

Today when I check my vegetables garden, I'm quite happy with the result. I can see some young sprouts from the seeds I sowed last week are sprouting out. I hope to see all the young sprouts stay healthy and grown bigger in the following months. I'm worried that with my inexperience and lack of skill in gardening, that I will not be able to have a very fruitful harvest of vegetables. Squirrels are also a problem for my garden, I have no idea how to prevent squirrel from eating and destroy my vegetables garden. I bought two bundles of chicken wire to build a barrier to keep the squirrel and critters away. My neighbour warned me that chicken wire wouldn't help squirrel and critters from eating my vegetables. He suggested to plant some marigold and aromatic herbs along with my vegetables. These herbs and marigold seem to repel a lot of pests, and can be used for cooking as well. I was on-line and I "googling" to find a more effective animals repellents and at last I found deer repellent!! I don't have deer in my back yard but, I do happen to have plenty of squirrels!! Deer Off II Battery-Powered Sprayer, RTU , is the first repellent on the market with a battery-powered sprayer, making application easy and hand fatigue a thing of the past! The battery-powered sprayer makes application a breeze! Plus, it eliminates the hand fatigue that often occurs with typical sprayers. When applied as directed, this animal repellent lasts up to 90 days. More frequent application may be necessary where animal pressure is heavy. C'elle leads the innovation of Stem Cells

President Barack Obama reversed one of the most controversial Executive Orders in recent history, lifting the ban on federal funding of embryonic stem cell research that was put in place by President George W. Bush in 2001. Obama's new Executive Order allows scientists to apply for government grants to study the versatile cells.
Stem cells have the remarkable potential to develop into many different cell types in the body during early life and growth. In addition, in many tissues they serve as a sort of internal repair system, dividing essentially without limit to replenish other cells as long as the person or animal is still alive. When a stem cell divides, each new cell has the potential either to remain a stem cell or become another type of cell with a more specialized function, such as a muscle cell, a red blood cell, or a brain cell. Do you have a family history of stroke, diabetes, heart disease or breast cancer? Given their unique regenerative abilities, stem cells offer new potentials for treating diseases such as Parkinson's disease, diabetes, and heart disease. Scientists are already using stem cells in the laboratory to screen new drugs and to develop model systems to study normal growth and identify the causes of birth defects. Most embryonic stem cells are derived from embryos that develop from eggs that have been fertilized in vitro fertilization clinic. And when it comes to something as important as collecting potentially life-saving stem cells found naturally in menstrual blood, the ideal time is NOW. C'elle collects and saves potentially life saving stems found naturally in menstrual blood. Thanks to C'elle's patent-pending technology, and easy to use collection kit, you have the reassurance and peace of mind you need. Poison Ivy and Vegetables Garden

Yes!! Poison ivy got me again!! Today our weather is miserable ,raining and cold..It's a day for me to take some rest after long weekend working outdoor .I been working at my backyard since last 2 weeks..I try to clean our little jungle little by little but first of all I have to remove all poison ivy, poison oak and poison sumac veins that is very old ,huge and deep planted and coiled all over the ground covered by the compose..As usual I try to be very careful not to touch the veins with bare hands or skin but unfortunately this damn poison ivy got me no matter how careful I protect myself.
I didn't realise I was poison until yesterday, when I woke up I saw this scratch mark....I think when I was asleep I unconsciously scratch my hands.
at the end of the day when I stop working at the poison ivy spot,I quickly take a shower, scrub thoroughly with soap but still...look at my both hands

I need to get a long rubber gloves before I continues my project again.
I think the poison ivy veins sneak up at my wrist when I work with it..Yes it's damn itchy!!! Damn poison ivy!!
Now let me show you what I accomplished at my garden so far!! actually I would like to have my vegetables garden spot at my little jungle at the far end coz the soil is very rich with compose. The problem is my little jungle still cover with poison ivy and too much trees, that mean too much shade,no good for summer planting.I need a better clearing before I can plant anything there, need more sun lights! So I decided to dig a my new garden plot near the fence border coz it's facing the morning sunlight!

The soil have too much small rock and this soil is like sand not suitable for any planting at all..Well,I have to dig the useless soil out and replaced with garden soil which I bought at Walmart.I shovel, shovel and shovel until my back pain!!
my second trip to Walmart to get more garden soil
Taaaaaaaaa.....dah!! my vegetable garden is almost complete!! I wired up with plastic wired to prevent squirrel and her other friends like mole and etc..pray hard they are not coming this summer!! Actually this is our project ,Mishu and mommy!! Mishu is so into gardening and planting!! She help me sowing the seeds..We even mark the seeds with plant marker!! So this summer Mishu is going to eat alot of vegetables!! We even plant corn and watermelon!
I also try to move some of the oak or woods from the lawn near my garden to not so eyes sore spot! hehehe!! it's superb heavy!!
I was at Tanger's outlet again!! My favourite store : Christmas Tree Store!! I bought some dahlia, seeds, gardening stuffs and etc..going to show you what I bought in later post. Mishu is helping me to plant all seeds and bulbs..
I also get plant food for flowers and bulbs..
Mishu keep nagging me she want to plant her Strawberry!!
So she got Strawberry bulbs!
she thought the contain look like the photo as shown! lol! me laughing at her...bad mommy...huh? *wink*
seeds at Christmas Tree Store are at 50% off,but not much selection left..I want to get some Chinese vegetables like kai lan, choy sam and siew choy but all sold out! *shrug* I should get last trip when I was there!
my friend came to visit me over the weekend with her family who just arrival from Malaysia. When she see how I re-pot my orchid she was horrified!! She is a orchid lover who plant many orchid plants in her apt.She advise me not to use regular potting soil instead to use pea moses,I think.Well....no wonder my previous orchid die on me!!
so I go to Walmart to look for the suitable soil and found this!! orchid potting mix!! much better, right?
I changed the soil again to orchid potting soil, hope and pray this orchid won't die on me again!
I was at Lowe's looking for BBQ pit and faucet the other day....didn't get BBQ pit or faucet but instead get lawn seeds on sale and some broken lilies!!
$0.50 only! why not? this force lilies was missing, actually the upper part of the plants broken while in transfer from nursery to truck and truck to store, that why it's sold at $0.50! Anyway I can always replant the bulbs again for next year since it's perennial.. stay tune for more gardening posting coming!!

Cryo-Cell Customer Testimonial :

"My children are the most precious gifts that I will ever have and I want to do everything I can to make sure they are well. While I was pregnant with my first child, I would see articles and ads about cord blood and it bothered me that it was so expensive but what if I one day needed this blood. The reality of having only one chance or it really went in the garbage kept me wondering if I would regret not investing. What if he had cancer or his dad or I were sick, would that blood have been the cure? Through research, I came across Cryo-Cell International, Inc., a company with the most reasonable rates and the assurance of two holding facilities.
When I was pregnant with my second child, we wondered if one bank was enough? Finances were tighter and should we spend the money? Then we realized that his brothers blood might not match for the new baby. The next day, stories were breaking about how Cord blood had saved or changed the lives of children, one cancer, one cerebral palsy. Then we discovered that a friend was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma. He didn't bank his daughters blood and wished he had. Three years prior, I lost a friend to renal cancer when she was 29. We felt like it was our answer.
We are just beginning to see miracles that this blood can bring. We have two "life insurance policies", that is how we look at it. If anyone in the family gets ill, there is a chance that the blood could save our lives. If we don't use it, then it is there for our son's children."
Sincerely, mother of Parker and Davis
