Apple Picking

Over the weekend ,we went to Apple Picking at Woodside Apple Orchard in Long Island.A Malaysian friend who also live in Long Island come over with her son ,Nelson to join us.Actually she been asking me ,almost every year where we can go Apple Picking in Long Island.Long Island have plenty of winery and farm at the End of island.I check the weather forecast ,it's predicted Sunday is nice and sunny day.I know we are late for apple picking this year.I called few orchards last week to get the direction and information,they told me the farm was closed for the season,come back next year! If we plan to go in Sept,maybe we can "U pick Pear,Peach,or Strawberry" instead of apple picking.Anyway,beggar can't be choosy! Look at the apples on the ground! What a waste,right?

This orchard apple tree is quite low,Mishu just reach the apples without problem. Look what I mean.The apples on the tree is almost reach to the ground.
Golden Delicious apples look deceived,actually it's really crunchy and sweet! We can only "U Pick" at this designated area and they have only 3 types of apple for us to pick.They don't allow us to pick the better grade apples which is big and pretty over where I park my car.

When my mom see this wastage she must feel so sad..I know she will said"so sayang,apples all over the ground".We all know Malaysia import their apples from other 4 season countries.

Mishu keep picking small apples into our paper bag.I bought a peck/bag for $14.00.It's said a peck of apples weight approximately 12-14 lbs.Well,it's comes to $1.00 a pound,right? Same price with supermarket or maybe slightly higher!

Mishu and Nelson..oh! let me tell you,at first both of them are like dog and cat.Nelson keep complaint about Mishu and later Mishu do the same to him.Monkey see,monkey do.I think both of them are the only child,so they are quite more into them self.

I love seeing the apples or fruit on the trees;make me smile even I have bad day.This gal wasting apples,told her it's not good to pluck the apples from the trees and throw away

I think this farm stand have Pumpkin Fair...We realised we have to buy ticket to certain games. We stay for few minutes before heading home coz the kids are hungry and cold.Look at my result!.A peck of "U Pick" apples cost me $14.00.A peck is 1/4 bushel to be exact.I didn't realise the Golden Delicious I picked is over ripe,on the next day I see some bruise on few apples.Luckily Mishu wanna to eat apples as it is.Maybe I will bake some apple pie or cake with the red apple which is hard and not sweet.
