Local Plants

I almost forget these bunch of photos that I took on my trip to Jitra,Alor Star,Kedah.I love local plants especially local herbs that I can hardly get in US.I intend to bring some of this plant with me when I'm back to NY.I hope they won't die on me!!lol!!
I forget what it's name?.Anyone?

Which one look prettier?.Pink or Yellow?
Petite green mustard (choy sam) grown by my aunt neighbour.
The neighbour even bring their sawi(green mustard) to market for sale.
I guess it's mint.....but the leaves look different.right?..anyone?
oh boy!.I love this plant!!.Daun limau purut or it's called as kaffir lime leave. This plant grow easily in Malaysia..I still have few packs in my freezer in NY....just few leaves cost me USD 2.50...very expensive,right??..and here..it's is so cheap..and easily to get..
My aunty going to chop down the whole tree becoz they going to build a car park on the spot!!..what a waste!!
What do you think, can I plant this herb in NY??.I know,I know NY have 4 season..But what if I plant it indoor?...hmmmmmm...Anyway,I'm going to bring a small plant back with me..Well,do you think US custom will question me about this plant in my luggage?.
Let's pray this plant don't die on me before we reach NY!!lol!!

Scary jugak if the dog come to sniff on your luggage at the airport.

Lesley, the US Customs is very strict, the little doggies are good sniffers! But if you can get through, the plant will survive. I have a tree in our house here in Nashville, look at my blog, there's a picture of it there. It won't grow very big and also during winter, it goes to 'sleep', it won't grow new leaves but when spring comes, you'll see new ones. Good luck!

Just be careful when you take those plants in. Wrap it with a few layers of clothing.

You terror huh dare to bring plant in. Seriously, no plant, fruit, and bak kwa is allowed to bring into U.S. Drawing of these with a crossed sign is posted everywhere in the custom area. But you can certainly take a risk lor, if they find it, they just take it away only mah. Not sure whether they will fine you or not, don't think I heard of people being fine by U.S. custom before.

Kaffir lime seeds will germinate easily in the summer. Try to collect them from riper fruits. Growth is dormant in winter but they survive indoors.
