My Thanksgiving Dinner 2007

Yesterday ,I have to remind Elliot to wake me up at 11.00 am.I prepared some of my foods,like peeling and cutting from yesterday.Can you believe ,that I make and cook everything from scratch??.I been toiling in my kitchen for 5 hours just cooking and preparing all the foods not including washing dishes, mopping and sweeping floor!!.Look at my burn turkey breast!!.I forget to switch back 375 F oven after preheat setting.The first hour my turkey breast burnt already!!.Anyway,it's alright ,we don't eat turkey skin,so just removed and throw away.This year ,I bought a 12 lbs Turkey instead of 20 lbs every previous year.Elliot love Emeril Laggasse cooking and recipe,so I brine and cook all my Thanksgiving meal using Emeril's recipes.
Brine and Roast Turkey from Emeril's live cooking show which I watch this week.I brine it accordingly as he said,but since my fridge is full,I just put it out on my deck whole night,in a large pot covered.Usually I just store all my soda and chili paste on my deck around winter time,since outside temperature is about 30 F plus.Of course,I use his method to make gravy.

Elliot craving Mr Turkey,he love turkey but not me.This year I do not dare to cook curry chicken due to respect his festival.
I wrapped these spring roll with dry shrimp,cabbage,bacon and chicken. I ask Elliot to bring some over to our neighbour,they love it.
Purple cauliflower salad as Big Boys Oven aka Sunny suggested but I didn't toast Ceasar dressing together .I know we can't finish the whole plate,so the dressing serve on side.If not it will get soggy the next day.I mixed with glazed walnut and raisin.I use Emeril's Cesar Dressing too.
Emeril's Rhoda's Candied Sweet Potatoes-Kick Up!!.I mixed with Japanese sweet potatoes.I modified some of the ingredients like bourbon to scotch. Have to run to Home Goods yesterday to buy this 2 qt tray for baking this Kick Up!!.I like it's silicon handle
Emeril's Brussels Sprout..This dish is really good A +.Cooked with bacon and white wine.It's very easy and simple dish.Elliot said this Brussels sprout is buttery soft.
Sauteed Leek,string beans and shrimp.Big mistake,I should wash leek more time in running water.
I forget to take photo of creamy pumpkin soup which Elliot keep praising good.I make my own mashed potatoes from real Idaho potatoes.Peel,cut,boiled,mashed and cook again in whipping cream,butter,cheese and salt.
I ask Mishu to smile for me,look at her eyes,hahaha!!She use force to smile!.We drink rose wine and Mishu drink Orange juice which she not happy.She eat 2 spring roll before she have her dinner,then she just eat some shrimp and turkey.
Mishu with her Grandma at dinner table.I also cut some avocado and cranberry sauce as side.

Well,I know eating turkey and it's side dishes will do,but I cook my white rice as well.....hahaha!!typical Chinese!.We start dinner at 5 pm ,then after dinner we took a couple hours of nap.I have to wash all my pots and trays by hands and they rest go into dish washer for 2 loads.I realise that my new turkey roasting pan rack was broken when I do dishes.Beside that all the new Turkey plate set which I bought from Linen & Things,doesn't come with salt and pepper as it's said on the box ,5 pieces.We are too full for dessert,it's pumpkin pie with ice cream and cream cheese cake.Dessert have to wait for next day.Overall ,we have wonderful Thanksgiving dinner.Our foods will last us for couple more days.

Lesley, you terror lah. Cook so much of food :) So what are you going to do with all the leftovers? By the way the platter we bought do come with salt and pepper shakers. They are so tiny and ss stuck in the styroform. I nearly missed it too :) :)

Looks great! What a feast! I usually wrapped the turkey with aluminium foil and baked for a while then take the aluminium foil off and continue to bake.
Gosh today my sis came over from singapore to visit us and we took her and her friends to dine at steven's place. Total eight of us and we had 9 dishes and end up with paying RM160(USD50), it was a great bargain... at least no need to wash the dishes..lol

WOW! You cooked A LOT!! What a feast!

You better go look for the salt and pepper set that you missed, it might stuck in the styroform. I didn't get to buy mine, when I went there, already sold out, all gone! :(

I'm not terror,just use up all my food which been sitting in my fridge .Yes,we are going to eat all the leftover.Elliot love Turkey,so he can eat Turkey for another 3 days ,breakfast,lunch & dinner in which I already removed it's bones & store in fridge now.oh!! I quickly run to look for the salt & pepper as you said,now I found it!!.I open two set plate yesterday but found none,maybe I'm so "kan chon" & blur blur.U are right,it's stuck in styroform.I tot going to L & T complaint!!Thanks for telling me,if not I look like idiot!!!

Last year I do wrap my turkey with foil but since I saw Emeril's show ,he doesn't do it,so do it.My problem is I set overn preheat at 425F then forget to switch to 350-375 F...WAh....what a good deal 9 dishes for RM160!!..Steven must really gave you big discount!!!

yeah,it's a feast !!.Did you cook on Thanksgiving?Maybe steam boat?.I know chinese love to make steam boat on Thansgiving.Wah....you place L& T really sold out fast!!I have 2-3 store L&T here,maybe that the reason they still have plenty of stock.

WOW!!!! That is alot of food. How many hours did you have to slave over the stove/oven???

Actually it's not much foods,just I have to cook everything from scratch that why I took 5 hours to cooked and prepared..As for purple cauliflower,I do nothing to make it purple,it's natural,Pls refer back to my previous post which I post the whole flower.
