Sweet Buns

Braids Bun.The last piece of dough,so I make Braids Bun,the one and only.I saw Chinese bakery sell it mixed with raisin.

This batch have an-pan filling and char siew filling.I just make variety shape. Not bad ,huh?oh!! sesame topping is an-pan(red bean) and pecan topping is char siew(roast pork)

This is char siew pau.I make the filling the other day before but didn't have the chance to post e yet.Actually I make char siew sauce from scratch.
This is An-Pan filling .My camera resolution for taking photo at near distant is zero!!**(hint hint at hubby for new camera)**I try to snap the texture of the bun but turn up off white,as you can see.
This Sweet Bun with An-Pan filling as show above.An-Pan is Red Bean sweet paste which sell in can.
Swirl buns are just plain,no filling inside. The color is not bad even thought I run out of egg .

I love this cookies sheet already here.Close up look at Swirl Bun
Another Plain Sweet Bun
The baking book said I have to brush with milk and butter before baking .While baking I do brush it with milk, butter and melted sugar again to enhanced the golden shiny look
Finally, I found a bigger packet of yeast from bjs. Usually I buy yeast in regular supermarket which is more expensive and smaller portion.Actually this is twin packet.

As my previous post mentioned, about Bun making, here are they.I make all the above sweet bun this morning.Yes,today I wake up really early ,that very rare of me.Surprised, right?.Not really,Mishu having cold for the last few days and coughing whole night. We when to bed at wee hours, lucky to me I still get few hour of sleep.Well, what to do as a mother?.
Back to my baking story now. This time I choose Snippet of My life Kitchen Sweet Buns recipe and turn out really successful.Thank you for sharing your recipe Chef Gert.As you know the first time ,I make sweet bun it turn out so heavy and the next day it's as hard as rock here. Today ,I'm in the mood to make sweet bun and it's turn out really soft, fine and moisture.I so happy at the result time .I used bread flour instead of unbleached flour and I let the dough proof for 1 hours then punch it and wrapped for another proofing..3 hours(rise 3 times than original size) instead of 30 minutes.I wanna to make sure it's really proofing good.I used hand to knead instead of machine mixer.
At the end ,while waiting for for oven to preheat,I'm looking for egg for brushing but found none!!.Not even one left!.I used all my egg for making Kaya and cooking dinner last night!!.So what, now?.I quickly refer to my bread recipe book .The book suggested I can use milk, butter and melted sugar for brushing .It's said using butter and sugar will preserved the bun moisture and still look shiny brownish.Of course, for me who have no basic knowledge of baking,I found this interesting.Anyway, for those who always said they are not a good cook or good baker,it's no harm to try new recipe and ideas.I would encourage anyone who have no basic of baking to give a try to make this sweet bun.You can create your own filling..
Happy Baking friends!!.

I think I knead for 10 min then let it proof and knead for another 5 min.I didn't keep track bcoz Mishu keep touching this and that. And I keep yell for her to go away. The last time I make pandan I use machine,so I figure this time I use hand knead. Thanks again:)
