My yesterday dinner platter,I just steamed Nasi Kunyit and the rest is ready make previously.I used curry chicken which I cook previous week here .Of course, I freeze it,is normal in US that we eat frozen food all the time.We just need to microwave.Beside that I use Sambal Ikan Bilis from Tean's here and anchovies.It's quite spicy and good.

Again Nasi Kunyit for tonight dinner.Tonight I decide to cook my own version of sambal since I'm not rushing home from shopping.I use homemade sambal
here and add extra chilli boh , red onion,sugar ,salt and tamarind powder.

Nasi Kunyit ready to serve.It's really soft and smooth texture.My first attempt and turn out really good and success!!

I used wok with this Chinese 's authentic cover for steaming.I purposely find this cover at Chinese store.

I decided to make Nasi Kunyit after buying Nasi Kunyit with Sambal from Malaysia restaurant most of the time.So I 'google" and found from Kuali version and of course ,I make some adjustment .I prefer simple and easy method and recipe.Kuali recipe is great but too complicated and too perfect.Salut to Amy Beh!.No offence, Madam!.I'm a simple person ,so I prefer not to abuse my brain so much!! hahaha!!
Here is my own adaption from Kuali.com
Ingredients
4 cups of glutinous rice
2 tbsp turmeric powder
1 pc fresh lime( cut & squesh juice)
1 can coconut milk (400 ml)
1 tsp sea salt
1 tsp white pepper
2 pandan leaves, knotted
Method:
Wash and soak glutinous rice in clean water for over night. The next day add turmeric powder and lime juice and put aside for 4 hours..Prepared water in wok with it's cover and steamer. Put rice in a stainless steel tray and add 1/2 can (200ml) coconut milk to cover the rice. Mix in white pepper powder and add pandan leaves. Steam rice over high heat until nearly cooked for 20 minutes. Add salt with the rest of 1/2 can (200ml) coconut milk into the rice.Steam the rice for another 10 minutes. Remove rice from steamer.Serve nasi kunyit with chicken curry and sambal.
Tip:I realised that I soaked glutinous rice overnight in plain water longer,it's really make the rice texture soft and smooth.Big mistake!! I add too much kunyit powder,I can only smell kunyit powder instead of coconut.Overall ,this meal is so easy and simple to prepare.I will definitely cook Nasi Kunyit again in future.

Nasi Kunyit with sambal and curry. What can beat that :) I like pulut rice but I always have problem digesting it. Have to go real easy with it. You so rajinlah cook everyday.

Remember we bought the nasi kunyit at Bayard St in Chinatown?.That nasi kunyit is really good,that why I cook it now.I purposely go out to buy that nasi pulut.What to do,I'm 'wai sei" poh.hahaha!!

Give me one of that plate everyday! So sedap! I have yet to try the sambal ikan bilis that I bought from Ray...I can be really "pun tua".

Try Tean's sambal soon.It's really not bad.This is my first time ,let said first bottle trying since everybody said good.The only things lack is not enough ikan bilis.But we can just microwave in 1 minutes like Aunty Lily suggested.I really love her method.I always cook food too much,I think I dunno how to cook in small portion.Still have plenty in fridge:(
I like nasi kunyit. This is a good idea to eat nasi kunyit with chicken and sambal ikan bilis. Yummy!My Indian friend said, kunyit/tumeric can boost our brain cell. I am not sure how true that is.

Tumeric can boost brain cell?.Ohhhhh!! I'm going to eat alot of them.I keep forgettting things even just happen hours ago.This original dish is a Malaya dish but all the while I thought it's nyonya dish bcoz my nenek peranakan cook this since I can remember.
