I bought 2 big pieces of pork belly(5 Far Lam) weeks ago and freeze it .I have no idea what to cook with it since the first piece I made Hong Bak.I,myself and me eat Hong Bak for the whole week, until I surrender.Elliot and Mishu are not interested in Chinese style stewed pork.

So when I made pernil-al-horno-roasted-pork-shoulder for Elliot last week,also know as Chinese Siew Yoke for me,Chef Gertrude refer me to this neckredrecipes for her Siew Yoke recipe.
Well,I made this Siew Yoke yesterday while making sushi.Elliot ask me why make so much food?.I told him that I know he won't eat my Siew Yoke ,so I made him sushi.Whenever I bought Siew Yoke from Chinatown,he won't touch it.But he eat the Siew yoke I made..amazing ,right?.I think, I know why he won't touch the Siew Yoke from Chinatown.He make some remark about the hanging meat like chicken, pork and duck uncover in the store front,unhygienic when we was in Chinatown last year.Anyway,he finished my Siew Yoke while I barely touch it.Mishu love it too.
There is so many mistake I make while preparing and broiling this Siew Yoke.I realised the skin doesn't crackling and I almost burn it to charcoal..I think maybe my pork belly was frozen before and the crackling doesn't happen?. yeah..I miss some steps following the recipe.I didn't rub the skin with salt and broiling the meat at top level in the oven.Big mistake!!.I love the chicharron but it's turn up burn.The taste is really good,Elliot eat it with bread like burger.
After done with the crackling,I clean up my oven.Hallehujjah!!.It's really messy and oily.Elliot warn me not to clean manually ,said it's self cleaning oven.If I clean manually,I'm going to destroy the oven.It's take 4 1/2 hours for the oven to do it's job until my alarm go off cause by the intense heat in the house..It's really an experience for me to make my own Siew Yoke.I guess,it's easier to buy it at the store but Elliot won't eat it. The last time I saw the price was $6.50 to $7.50 per lbs.Depending which store sell it.I think with the price it's worth it,save all the work ourself.

Wow, Mishu really enjoying her siew yoke :)The siew yoke look so juice and tender. I like siew yoke too but when I think of cleaning the oven I forget the idea of making it myself :)

hahaha!! Both father and daughter finish my siew yoke,left the fats for me.Yeah,cleaning is really the pain.I have to pasang all exshuat and kipas,sampai alarm beeep in the middle of night.
Oit oit, itu siew yoke sini kasi mari... Alamak, it has been a while since I had siew yoke... Best makan with sos cili.
CAt Cat..hahaha!! chili sos with siew yoke that good ,huh?.I used cili padi with soy sauce.
