Assam Laksa with lai fun for my dinner tonight .The kick is chilli padi and 'har koh".
Har Koh or Petis Udang.Made in Penang. It's very good 'Hai Ko' very fine and smooth, easy to scoop.
I never try any homemade assam laksa.Usually I just order ' take out' Assam Laksa in Malaysia restaurant when I was in the city. Recently,I meet with Chef Gertrude ,she recommend Chan Heong Assam Laksa when we shop in Asian grocery store, said it's very good.I bought 2 packets on top of others curry paste. You can get it from mytasteofasia online Malaysia grocery store.
The instruction on the back of the packet is very easy and quick.I open a can of sardine in spicy tomato sauce in the assam laksa soup.On top of that I add some tamarind powder, some sugar,a cube of Knorr's shrimp and chop chilli padi.I like my food hot and spicy.I use "lai fun"or called fresh rice noodles, red big onion,a can of unsweet pineapple and shredded cucumber.I forget to buy mint leaves but that OK since I'm not fan of mint leaves.I remember that I bought a small "har koh'(hai ko) or petis udang sometime ago in Queens.Maybe 2 years go.I must stack with other cans in my pantry. So I keep digging and at last found it!!.
It's just take me 30 minutes to prepared Chan Hong Assam Laksa!!.It's really good!!.From scale one to ten,I will give it eight!!.Maybe the petis udang make some different too!!I'm sure going to cook this meal more often in the future.
