My humble Assam Ikan Bawal with Kaffir Lime Leaf

I'm craving for Singapore Curry Laksa Noodles..I keep looking everywhere to get the paste but not available at this moment. The restaurant I always enjoy this special noodles soup is not near my home.It take me 45 minutes to drive there without traffic. To make the long story short...so I start looking at my Malaysia paste stock in my cupboards..I buy all my stock in Queens or NYC .But for those who don't live in NYC or the vicinity...you can always go to mytasteofasia
for your Asian supply. mytasteofasia have big and variety selection of asian product.
Since I stock plenty of convenience paste, hmmmm. thinking...what should I substitutes for my craving??..I saw 2 packets of Tean's Assam Fish paste in the corner..Quickly ,I start to pull out vegetable and fish from my fridge before I change my mind again..
Luckily I found a Prompret fish in freezer.I love gravy and vegetables..so I add cabbage as well.So here it's my dinner..Assam Ikan Bawal Putih.Still have leftover gravy, tomorrow I'm going to add shrimp in to it.

beachlover,
Can we substitute with other fish?
All fishes that sold in american grocery stores are fillet type... Hard to get fish with bones here unless a trip to Asian stores.

Yes,you can use any seafood avaliable to this assam paste to your own preferance.Sometimes,I used frozen fillet Tilapia too if I don't have bone one.I prefer Tilapia than other boneless fish .Don't forget to take your pic too!.
